PENETRATION TESTING |
What is a penetration test?
Penetration testing is a big portion of network security. A penetration test
is the process of actively evaluating your information security measures; it’s
designed to highlight potential floors and vulnerabilities in your systems. These
results are then delivered comprehensively in a report to Executive, Management
and Technical Personnel.
Why have penetration tests?
Security tends to be an afterthought for many organisations. When considering
new IT projects budgets often only provide allowances for minimal security measures.
Too many companies don't even consider security and the less technical aspects
of security are neglected e.g. Policies, procedures, education and awareness.
Security policies and processes must be integrated into the day-to-day operations
of any business.
New threats to corporate security are revealed every day; these threats come
in a variety of forms and flavours, some crippling, others merely bothersome.
Many systems are breached through the use of old techniques and vulnerabilities
and, all too often a company's security is breached through the most trivial
means: default passwords, mis-configured software, insecure services, poor security
policies and a lack of security procedures, to name a few.
